Near Third Street, there was a playground for kids, complete with rides, crafts, clowns, and a magic show. Less than a block away, there was a crowd at the sand art vendor and a long line for face paint. "The kids are always happy when they get their faces painted," said Guttenberg resident Rosie Perdomo, who came to the festival with her two daughters, wholesale New York Yankees HatsJasmine and Bella.
Three stages showcased live entertainment, bands like, the Fave, and the Guitar Bar All Stars as well as other groups like the Newport Dance Ensemble from Jersey City.
One of the most popular food vendors, he said, was the smoked barbeque on the corner of First and Washington Streets, but visitors had plenty of choices. Stands on either side of Washington served up crab cakes, calzones, gyros, smoothies, fudge,discount New York Yankees Hats and much more.
"It's going really well today," said Steve Feinstein, a local resident who was volunteering for the Liberty Humane Society. "It looks fantastic, beautiful weather, not too mobbed but just crowded enough that you have to walk slowly and wait in line to get to some of the more busy food places."
